Do you have a student who is anxious about having emergency drills, like a fire drill, at school? This social story focuses on what happens when there is a fire drill at school. Emergency drills can be loud and intimidating for students navigate. This story focuses on what students should do if there is a drill during the school day. Social stories are a great way to promote appropriate social skills and calm fears of students with anxiety.
They teach students how to make positive choices instead of acting out in anger or frustration. A social story is an effective way to use visuals to teach social skills to students in need of special education (ESE) with autism, behavior disorders (like ADHD or ODD) or other special needs.
This social story includes a one-page version of the story and a 6-page book (or easy reader). Both black and white and color versions of each are included.
